Love your local green space

17 February 2009

The countryside rangers are calling on residents to put a bit of love into their country park.

For countryside rangers and Clean Glasgow are leading volunteers to help spruce up Dams to Darnley Country Park with a spring clean.

Countryside ranger, Eilidh Milne, explained: “Even green space needs care and attention.  We’re calling on local residents to extend their spring clean to the country park and get out at the end of this month to make Dams to Darnley sparkle.

“We’re holding a clean up to clear up any litter from the park and make sure that Dams to Darnley is looking at its best for the spring blossoms and emerging wildlife.”

The Dams to Darnley Country Park spring clean is on Saturday 28 February from noon until 3pm. Soup and sausage rolls will be provided for volunteers following the clean up. All litter picking equipment is provided, suitable clothing should be worn and all children must be accompanied by an adult.

Dams to Darnley Country Park sits between Newton Mearns, Darnley and Barrhead and is a joint project between Glasgow City and East Renfrewshire councils.

Phone Richard or Eilidh on 0141 577 4043 or 4054 to find out more or meet at the Ashoka restaurant car park, off Nitshill Road, Darnley at noon.
