Water lot of volunteers

30 July 2010

The country park was over the moon when it was contacted by Scottish Water cabout organising a corporate volunteer day. A group of over 40 Scottish Water employees arrived at the country park on a beautiful day in June ready to get their hands dirty.

With such a large number involved the volunteers were able to split into two groups, allowing more to be achieved. The first group painted a fence on the edge of the country park which had become defaced by graffiti. Over the last two years the countryside rangers have made real progress in tackling anti-social behaviour in the country park. Painting the fence has given the area renewed brightness.

The second group ventured further afield, removing redundant barbed wire fences which were in a poor condition and cutting back vegetation. It was great to get this work done, it has opened up parts of the country park and made it safer for everyone who uses it. The countryside rangers have already received compliments on the work volunteers have done from the public so a big thank you to everyone who took part.

If you are interested in volunteering within the country park then please contact the countryside rangers.
