In June 2008 Richard Bolton and Eilidh Milne started working as countryside rangers for the country park as part of a one year pilot to establish the benefits of a ranger service. Funding has come from East Renfrewshire Council, Glasgow City Council and Scottish Natural Heritage.

Councillor Tony Buchanan, chair of the country park joint committee, spoke to highlight the importance of the two new countryside ranger posts. Councillor Tony Buchanan said: "The appointment of our very active rangers to the park is a clear signal that the project is starting to mature. Both East Renfrewshire Council and Glasgow City council are delighted that we have been able to make these important appointments as the rangers have a unique expertise to share with visitors while acting as first class ambassadors for the park itself. Having the rangers in post is an important milestone in the development of what is a superb facility both for local people and tourists and I look forward to further exciting developments over the coming months."

Richard and Eilidh are planning a series of events throughout the year including guided walks, fun days and practical conservation tasks.
